Basin True Grit 1021

REASONS TO USE:

A favorite of most visitors to ORIgen and one of the soundest and most complete young sires to be found in the population, this third high-selling bull of the record-setting 2022 Basin Angus bull offering is a son of a popular young ABS sire that offers an outcross calving ease option for many popular sire lines and he was produced as the first calf from a young cow by Basin Rainmaker 4404 that is widely regarded as the greatest daughter her famous sire.

The first progeny of True Grit are reinforcing his EPD and bio-economic index predictions with 52 head in six herds recording an average birth ratio of 97 while the first 39 True Grit calves genomic tested have an average Calving Ease Direct EPD of +9 and an average Birth Weight EPD of -0.1 to make him ideal breeding virgin heifers in a wide range of environments including those at high altitude with his elite  maternal Milk EPD predicting his daughters should be excellent production cows in an industry where weaning weight from maternal Milk has declined across the population in recent years.

True Grit sons from his VERY FIRST calf crop made a stunning debut as 12 sons sold for an average of $14,521 as the top average of any sire group of 10 or more bulls from the 2024 Basin bull offering.

Second high-selling bull at $75,000 for two-thirds interest was Basin True Value 3017 who recorded the very BEST average percentile ranking in the entire Basin 2023 calf crop for the traits of economic importance and now ranks Number 2 for that indicator or true balance among all sires at ORIgen.

The first True Grit daughter sold at public auction was the $20,000 heifer calf featured with her $20,000 first calf dam on the cover of the 2023 Basin female sale catalog and several sons of him have surged to the top of the 2024 Basin Angus bull sale offering with balanced EPD profiles for EVERY economically important trait measured in beef cattle today.
